Each year we choose events that would present the best aspects of FIRST to our community.In 2007 we were busy with "Canstruction"(see below)events such as serving food with the Heights Rotary and mentoring to Helms, Harvard,Love,Travis Elementary Schools and Hamilton & Hogg Middle Schools.We have expanded our mentoring program now to include four of our eight elementary schools in our feeder pattern to give aspiring young engineers and scientists the opportunity to participate in various robotic competitions at various levels. In addition , we conduct a summer mentoring program with the robotic camp at Montgomery County Community College. Thor and worker for First Lego League (FLL) at the Lone Star Regional hosted by Reagan High School. School Clubs and Organizations participated in the concessions for the event. This competition brought an enthusiastic response from Houston ISD as there had never been an event of this magnitude at one high school. This has been the most well received event we have held, and it has received notoriety from all of the HISD administration. The Lone Star Regional was the first to show case our newly remodeled school. We were the proud host of the 2007 FLL Lone Star Regional--hosting over 2,500 students, participants,mentors, parents, siblings, and neighborhood spectators. Team members serve food with the Heights Rotary. Canstruction 2007:"Helping to feed the hungry one can at a time." This is a competition that includes local architects and engineering firms . Reagan Devil Dogs Team has participated as the only Houston ISD school again this year. We built a 5' diameter scale model of the Astrodome using over 1,000 cans of food, 48 -packages of marshmallows, and 48 - 1# dry beans.
